New N8XJK 80Amp Boost Regulator

This 80Amp Boost Regulator is just like our Super Booster, except it can handle 80Amps at 50% duty cycle. It will allow you to boost and regulate DC voltages up to 15+ Volts, with an input as low as 9Volts.

It comes with 4AWG Zipcord pigtails that are 2 feet in length. It also has two thermally controlled cooling fans.

It can be run fulltime or boost just when talking with the RF Enable circuit.


A Piezo Low Voltage Alarm can be added to this unit.  Just click the option when adding to shopping cart.

Our Remote Meter Panel is compatible and can be used with this unit.

Your new Boost Regulator will allow you to:

• Maintain any output voltage greater than battery voltage up to 15+ volts!

• Keep Battery voltage present at the output with the supply turned off! 1

• Boost voltages up to an 80 Amps load. Rated for 50% duty cycle at 80Amps.

• Protect your battery with a low voltage lockout feature. 2


1 Battery voltage less one Schottky diode voltage drop.

2 Low Battery voltages set to 9, 10, or 11 volts. Note: The unit does not disconnect your load from the battery.

    This was purchased for outfitting my VHF & HF ham radio rover. My amplifiers are rated at 60 amps to 80 amps DC draw, though they don't actually draw that much when driven correctly. The unit is solidly built. It works as it should; not much to say about a voltage booster except that I no longer have to worry about voltage fading if I operate (without the engine on) for a long while on battery. Did not try RF sensing, I just leave it on all the time.

    I ordered 4' output cables that turned out to be too short when I rearranged things, so I extended them with welding cables and a butt splice. The 4 ga cables are nicely flexible. I put lug terminals on the input cables to connect to screw-down battery terminals, and the output cable is screwed into a Stinger HPM distribution block with 4 MIDI fuses -- though I should also add an Anderson quick-disconnect.

    The only disappointment, and maybe this is unreasonable, is that I get a big spark when I connect the input cable to the battery -- I wish there was a some kind of slow draw circuit when the booster is first connected, I'd pay extra to avoid that big spark and the presumed big current spike.

    I would definitely purchase other products from TG without hesitation.

    I purchased this for my power-hungry Motorola MSF5000 GMRS repeater. I run it off of solar which has voltage ranges of 11.0v to 14.8v. The repeater's output varies with voltage, so in order to maintain the legal limit of 50 watts out, I needed consistent reliable voltage in.

    The N8JXK 80 Amp Boost Regulator works perfectly. It supplies a consistent voltage to my repeater, even when the demand goes from 1 amp to 36 amps instantly. I adjusted my booster to 14.8 volts to match my maximum solar voltage.

    The supplied 4 gauge wire is pure copper and very flexible. The unit is well made and solid... not cheap plastic. The cooling fan has not yet needed to kick in for me, but I'm glad it's there just in case.

    I haven't tried the RF sensing unit.

    I put 75 amp Anderson Power Poles on it for a clean looking and versatile setup.
